The weekend that my parents, my youngest daughter and I went to Louisiana…not only did my oldest daughter have a bit of excitement, but my son did as well. That weekend my son had called asking if I was in Louisiana. Of course I was! He explained that he had a bit of a problem. My first thought, terrible as it may be, he’s in jail. But then it dawned on me that he wouldn’t be calling from his cell phone. He said he was stuck in College Station, TX, which was over 4 hours away from where I was. He agreed to drive a friend to Houston and then got the bone-headed idea to drive to College Station on his own.
Apparently he had a friend that was attending the Texas A&M game and he went to visit him. Huh? His friend was going to be at the game until after 10pm, so my son went to see his friend that he would barely get to see. Didn’t make much sense to me either. But his truck broke down at the Burger King there. Way to go! It was already late in the afternoon and they close the gates at the State Park where I was at 9pm. So I wouldn’t be able to get back in. I told my mom what was going on and I decided to call my Significant Other. He works for a collision shop and he drives a wrecker about one weekend a month. I was crying by this point because I couldn’t believe my son did something so stupid. After calming me down, he told me he’d take care of it and not to worry. He talked to his boss and he was allowed to take the second wrecker to go fetch my son, 3 hours one way. I told my mom that if he had still been married to that witch of a second ex-wife of his, she would never have allowed him to do this for me.
Anyway, after we all got home and the dust had settled, my son started telling my mom and me that he needed his truck fixed. My son hadn’t had a job in over a year. After several texts from him, I had to tell him I can’t afford to have his truck fixed for him. My mom finally put her foot down with him and told him he would have to pay for it himself. So, what happened? He got a job. He quit college because he said it’s not for him ( I think he’ll regret it later ), but that’s his choice. But I’m so glad he got a job, and one that he finally enjoys. Hopefully, he’s saving money to get his truck fixed!
