So, I saw my neurologist for the first time yesterday. He said he thinks what I’m experiencing is migraines. He put me on two things, one is a beta blocker that is supposed to work well on headaches that I’m supposed to take daily. The other I take at the onset of a headache. I also have to check my pulse daily because of the first med. I started my meds yesterday. I felt a headache comin on yesterday when I was in his office, it knocked it right out and it didn’t come back. But the meds make me feel a bit run down since it lowers my blood pressure. We’ll see how it goes.

So were you diagnosed with chronic migraine/headache?

yeah, i don’t know if i’m gonna be able to take this beta blocker. my pulse was over 70 before i started taking it. now it varies from 55 to 62, if it falls below 55 i have to let him know and quit taking it.

Yikes!
I hope it levels out because it was nice to read “I felt a headache comin on yesterday when I was in his office, it knocked it right out and it didn’t come back.’
I know I would present and diagnose as chronic migraine. With my 20 year history of them now, I have no question. Lately, they are real bad too, though life has been ultra stressful lately.
I’m always scared with pharmaceuticals anymore though, especially new treatments. I wouldn’t take Imetrex for years because Mel was one of the first to get it and had the life threatening reaction in front of me. I had to race her and two babies to the emergency room twenty years ago. I finally just started using it a year ago because I am uninsured and it is cheaper than the $340.00 for the maxalt I liked (less intense).
